Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali said the commuter area, which had been closed and temporarily relocated to Rockland County, NY due to renovations at the James Gandolfini Rest Area, will open on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The gas station and eateries in the service area are expected to reopen at a later date.

The service area was one of the final four that had been closed as part of a $250 million project to renovate and overhaul all of the service areas on the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike, NJ Advance Media reports.

The new Park & Ride boasts straighter edges, as opposed to the angled edges and roadways, along with new parking spots bringing the total to 400, and an added bus stop shelter.

In announcing the reopening, Ghassali shared the Rockland Coaches new schedule:

"We are appreciative of all the work and care that was given to make this location safely accessible and useable for our residents," the mayor said, noting the Park & Ride is a "convenient amenity to not only residents but also to surrounding communities to access transportation directly to NYC."
